GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP AWARD 2015 The winner of the 2015 Government Leadership Award is the Ministry of Communications of the Government of Brazil. The award recognises various policy approaches adopted in 2014 that have led to a huge expansion in broadband access in Brazil. These include making additional spectrum available for mobile broadband, reducing taxation on Machine-to-machine SIM cards and small cells, and stimulating demand for mobile money services.
SPECTRUM FOR MOBILE BROADBAND AWARD 2015
The winner of the 2015 Spectrum for Mobile Broadband Award is the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication of the Government of Pakistan, which in 2014 successfully auctioned spectrum for 3G/4G services in the 850 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. Since then there has been a rapid uptake of 3G services, bringing significant benefits to consumers and the national economy, and huge growth potential for industry players including operators, device manufacturers, application developers and distributors.
