The new Myspace

The efforts made by this social network are substantial, and by launching the new.myspace.com web site version the company seems to be sincerely trying to get in touch with users' needs. Hopefully this strategy will do the job for them; otherwise, the chances of being successful at yet another future version will most likely prove futile if they want to come even close to competing with a giant like Facebook. It is also important to mention that the new Myspace gets high marks in areas such as usability, interactivity, audio visual player experience, user interface and image.

The new version, compared to the classic one, provides the user with a somewhat limited license to operate the profile of choice which can be retrieved from the classic myspace version, or the user can create a new profile. If the choice is the latter, and creating such a new profile is more appealing, then new terms must be accepted, which will make some authors of original copyrighted music, or any other kind of content, a lot more relaxed.

The not-so-great aspects about the new version could have more to do with the new terms and conditions for users and content creators, and although there might be some understood things in those terms, in this space, on the other hand, I decided to
focus on some of the more positive ones mentioned above.

The classic version is still functioning, and it is possible to access it using the old user id and password, but if you want to get into the new.myspace, then you must re-enter you password plus other precise information. You can also log in using your Facebook or Twitter user data.

The thing that I liked the most is the interactivity provided by the new player in the shape of a stripe which runs horizontally across the screen all the way at the bottom. There is also a long horizontal pop up of the same length right on top of the player, and inside both there are several links and gadgets displayed with neatly organized information via various buttons, all contained in these two stripes

The site also sports a nice black background that stands out from previous versions, and also makes the user interface more elegant and takes it far into the more up-to-date versions of modern web sites. The other nice thing about the new Myspace is the editor, which has long evolved from the classic version and will surely become one of its highlights

All these things create a clean user interface and give you the feeling of having a flawless experience which I highly enjoyed and recommend, and as I said before, will not elaborate on certain aspects, however, I think it is important to mention things such as photos and email  which in some cases appear to be absent from the current version. Contacts, on the other hand, are kept as people you are connected to, but another story is you being connected to them.
